1. No, she more than likely did not. When she bought the Lyrium from Bartrand I really highly doubt he was the drooling moron he was when Varric found him in that house.
2. If a dwarf could hold it, and it could be carried out of the deep roads, it obviously couldn’t kill anyone just by touching it. and if she had a good reason, such as needing magic in order to survive, there’s no way she would turn down holding pure magic to do it. Here’s the thing: YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT MADE HER BUY IT. All we are told is that she did, and she has it. There’s a little thing I like to call character development that we didn’t get to see for Meredith as to why she did what she did as far as her purchases were made.
3. Bullshit, if she makes mention about how pricey it was it wouldn’t have mattered if she was using Chantry funds. Meredith has a pay check, though since she works in Kirkwall her pay is likely pretty meager. Hence why she would mention how much it cost her. If it were Chantry funds the price wouldn’t have mattered.
4. That has nothing to do with anything else. If you’re irritated about her strictness, fine. Be irritated that she’s strict. Be irritated by her methods. But do not go so far as to say you have no sympathy for a woman who has been in her position protecting Kirkwall and doing her absolute best in everything she had ever done since she was young, who fought out tyranny in the previous Viscount, who has had her share of scars.
